Why Firefox?
Firefox offers better security, faster browsing, more options, and many other advantages that I have detailed here in the past. However, Mozilla now does a great telling you why you'll want to install Firefox, so I'm leaving the job to them. And switching is easy. :-)
Using Firefox
Learning Firefox
There's actually very little to learn to start using Firefox. Your intuition is all you need to switch from another browser. Getting the most out of Firefox requires a little discovery though. A good place to start is the "Learn Firefox" website.
Firefox Extensions (Add-ons)
Firefox
extensions (add-ons) are one of the best things about Firefox. They help you to customize Firefox to fit your browsing needs. The security-enhancing extensions are some of the most valuable, but there are many other add-ons for Firefox. [

Fixing Firefox
Firefox is usually very stable, but it can get out of whack, especially if you experiment with it a lot like I do. ;-)
There are three basic ways to fix Firefox problems.
- The first thing to try is clearing the cache. Recent versions of Firefox have made this process a little obscure. To do that, click "Tools" in the menu, and select "Options". Then select the "Privacy" tab and follow this process: [illustration]
- Select "Use custom settings for history" and "Clear history when Firefox closes".
- Click the "Settings" button, and select the "Cache" option.
- Close and then restart Firefox.
- If that doesn't work, try creating a new profile.
- If a new profile doesn't solve the problem, a "clean install" is in order. Start by uninstalling Firefox completely. Then reinstall the latest version.
There's a vexing, Windows-induced problem that interfers with opening external links in Firefox. There's a simple solution too. Here's the error message that signals the link has been blocked:
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.
See the solution.

Firefox extensions can open Firefox to more avenues of attack. (If you stick to extensions from mozilla.org or mozdev.com the risk is minimal.) "Worst Browser Threats May Not Be Security Holes" | EarthWeb
